2005–2006: building a measurable response business
TOV “KOMPANIIA TELEMEDIA” was registered in Kyiv on 6 December 2005. The first direct-response television broadcast followed on 1 January 2006 at approximately 10:10 on K1 and K2. According to the founder’s launch account, the first order arrived about five minutes later and a five-person call-centre team recorded about 100 orders by the end of the day.
That first day established the defining logic of the early business: media, response and operations were connected. A television placement was not judged only by audience exposure. It created calls that could be counted, questions that could be heard and orders that had to move through people, systems and warehouse processes.
The launch also exposed the cost of that immediacy. The ERP/CRM environment was not fully operational for roughly the first week. Orders existed before the intended processing layer was ready, creating delays for some early customers. This archive retains that operational failure because it explains the real conditions under which the organisation learned.
2010–2011: catalogues and outbound communication
Around 2010, Telemedia added printed catalogues. They did more than list products: in a period when remote purchasing required reassurance, a physical catalogue acted as a repeated, tangible trust signal. It extended the contact created by television and allowed existing customers to revisit a range without waiting for a broadcast.
By 2010 Telemedia was also visible in the professional distance-selling community. The programme for Direct Marketing Days in Ukraine listed Telemedia’s Head of Internet Marketing speaking about internet tools for mail-order companies. The programme places the company in a practical discussion that included European e-commerce, mail-order logistics, retention and database marketing.
Outbound calls were added in 2011. This changed the relationship from response-only selling to managed customer communication. Call-centre experience, customer data and campaign management became assets in their own right.
2012–2014: moving toward products and brands the organisation controlled
From 2012, Telemedia increasingly developed its own product-brand base. The organisation’s role expanded beyond choosing an item to advertise: product selection and development, brand creation, packaging decisions, supplier coordination and the management of intellectual assets became central capabilities.
Grand Line was registered in Ukraine in May 2012 for another initial purpose, then became the principal Ukrainian intellectual and corporate body for continuing activities. The public activity record associated with Grand Line-IP licensing, warehousing, packaging, programming and distance retail-matches important parts of the capability set described in the first-party account.
Telmone.com was registered in January 2013. Telmone initially appeared as an identity for the developing portfolio of internally controlled products rather than as an immediate replacement for Telemedia. SiegfriedKummer was the first internally developed brand associated with this emerging portfolio. More brands followed as the centre of gravity moved from media placement toward product and brand ownership.
New legal entities in Ukraine and abroad and the movement of group management toward the Netherlands were part of preparing the next structure. The public site deliberately describes this at a general level; private contracts and transaction mechanics are not necessary to understand the historical succession.
2010–2015: ownership consolidation and a new direction
Telemedia began with four owners: Slavko Kumer and three other co-founders and early angel investors. Ownership consolidated over several years-first to two owners and ultimately to a sole owner before the 2015 Telmone introduction. The archive does not name or profile the other investors because their identities are not necessary to explain the public business history.
Consolidation mattered because the strategy had diverged from the original DRTV-led model. The business was becoming more specialised around health, personal care, home care and related categories; it was building its own product brands; and it needed an international umbrella that was not defined by “tele” and “media”.
8 June 2015: Telmone becomes the umbrella
After the final ownership consolidation, Telmone was introduced internally to employees and clients at a corporate event in Kyiv on 8 June 2015. This is the decisive business-succession date used throughout the archive.
Business operations, intellectual assets, systems, know-how, warehouse-related assets and other operating capabilities had been moved out of the former Company Telemedia structure into the succeeding connected structure. After those transfers, the old legal shell was sold on the market. The current company bearing that legal name is not affiliated with Telmone.nl, Grand Line, the historic owners represented here or this website.
Telemedia should therefore be described as discontinued as a business and brand identity, not as a legally dissolved company. The legal shell survives under unrelated ownership; the historical business lineage continued elsewhere.
2015–2018: digital integration makes the catalogue less necessary
The printed catalogue continued under the Telmone name, not Telemedia. By 2018, the integration of websites, messaging services and telemarketing had reached the point where the catalogue’s remaining role as a reputation and trust prompt was diminishing rapidly. Telmone ended the printed catalogue in 2018.
Third-party marketplace pages continued to use Telemedia naming in some 2016–2017 offers. Those pages are valuable evidence of how the name remained visible publicly, but they are not treated as proof that Telemedia remained the principal umbrella. They may reflect legacy campaign naming, reused profiles or activity by staff still working with older marketplace identities. This archive records the discrepancy instead of forcing the sources into a false single narrative.
Today: a legacy that clarifies Telmone’s context
Telemedia.ua now has one purpose: to document the historical business accurately enough that people, search engines and AI systems can distinguish the original Ukrainian operation, the unrelated present-day legal shell, Grand Line’s Ukrainian role and Telmone.nl’s current corporate authority.
The continuity is meaningful but specific. Customer communication, call-centre selling, CRM and campaign management, product development, owned-brand management, warehousing and fulfilment all carried forward and evolved. Values, product focus, organisational structure and communication changed substantially.
